It is very simple to create your own website, with so much choice on the web and free templates, who wouldn’t give it a go? But how do you know you are even being seen?
When the terms ‘SEO’ & ‘keywords’ are mentioned to you in conversation, you cringe in fear and change the subject. But it is really not something to worry about. Anyone can do it, it is just a matter of knowing where to go on your site.
The Buzz Writer is here to help you with your web content writing. And this includes betting the fear surrounding all those technical phrases.
Check out our quick hints below on what to do to improve your visibility online.
Keywords
Don’t be scared. Keywords are not that hard to understand. They are simply the words you type into an internet search to find what you are looking for. Just imagine sitting at your computer and typing in ‘Landscaping Services Cronulla’. These are the keywords you would be looking at putting into your content. Of course used in a sentence it doesn’t sound so technical…
Example:
‘JD Gardens offers award winning Landscaping Services from Cronulla to Bondi…’
Headings
Each page should include Headings. These will help the search engine crawlers to locate what your content is about. Don’t think that by just naming your page, you are covered. Make sure the headings are keywords that your potential clients will search for.
Example:
‘Landscaping & Paving Services’ instead of just ‘Services’
Website Titles & Descriptions (or Site Metadata)
These are the areas of text that show up when someone searches for you on the internet. It is the Title & Description of your business, so that we know what you do. These two items are found in the administration side of your website. Each web platform has their own area to enter these details. If you aren’t sure where that is, simply conduct a search through the help & support page, through the FAQ’s section, or failing that – Google search it for your platform.
Example:
Landscaping Services Cronulla | JD Gardens
website address…
Award winning services in landscaping & paving, from design to installation and ongoing management.
Located in Cronulla, we service the Sydney metro areas….
On Page Metadata
Similarly, each individual page has an area to enter Page Titles & Descriptions, as well as a list of direct keywords for SEO. I hear you, there she goes again talking technical. But SEO is Search Engine Optimisation, which is what we are doing by following these steps!
Of course, if you need further clarification or assistance, we are always here to help at The Buzz Writer.
